What Is Microneedling With Radiofrequency?

Microneedling with radiofrequency treatments utilize two effective technologies in order to rejuvenate your appearance. By combining microneedling, a popular skin-resurfacing method, with skin-tightening radiofrequency energy, these unique treatments can dramatically improve your skin.

Venus Versa combines Nano Fractional RadioFrequency and SmartScan technology to control both the heat and pattern of the laser. Its patented pin design creates micro dermal wounds that can be set at varying depths. The depth of the needles is controlled with precision. The needles only penetrate the skin to the most effective level for each treatment area. There is rarely any bleeding or bruising. Venus Viva™ works with tiny pins that safely deliver heat (via NanoFractional RF™) through the skin’s surface. This creates tiny micro-dermal wounds, which the body then works to heal naturally. This process is what repairs signs of skin damage seen on the surface of the skin. And because the wounds are so small, the treatment is much more comfortable than lasers or chemical peels. The result is smoother, healthier skin with minimal to no downtime.

Microneedling treatments reduce imperfections and promote a clear complexion by creating tiny punctures in your skin. The microscopic holes that are made in the skin stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and new skin cells. Since the wounds are so microscopic and targeted, the surrounding tissue is unharmed, but the body’s reaction is that of wound recovery, initiating the production of new collagen to heal the “perceived wound”.

Radiofrequency energy is safe, it gently heats the skin to stimulate collagen production for a smoother and firmer appearance. The energy can penetrate to a deep level to improve the tone and structure of your skin. By targeting both the epidermis (outer) and dermis (middle) layers of the skin, the Venus Viva tightens the skin, improves texture, and improves scarring and pigmentation problems. Because the radiofrequency energy targets just water instead of melanin, the treatment is a safe and efficient option for people of all skin types – even sensitive skin and tanned skin. There will be noticeable results within several weeks, but to achieve optimal results, patients must undergo a series of treatments.
How does microneedling & PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) also known as Vampire facial work?

The addition of PRP from the blood may make microneedling more effective.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is produced from your own blood so there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection. There are no preservatives and no chance of the body rejecting the cells. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or microneedling, it initiates a localized cellular response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this response stimulates collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.

Commonly asked questions:

How long does a treatment session last?
Each session lasts 15-30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

What does the treatment feel like?
You will feel tiny pins on your skin followed by a little zap. Your face will then feel warm, like a sunburn.

Will it be painful?
Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments may be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. You’ll feel intense heat, similar to the feeling of sunburn, and your face will look red right after the treatment. For more aggressive treatments, you may get a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort.

How will I feel after my treatment?
Your skin will be red and feel warm afterward, like a sunburn. You can ease this by fanning or exposing the area to cool air. Don’t put anything on your skin, not even water, for 24 hours. The warm feeling should go away within 24 hours.

Is there downtime after the treatment? / How long is recovery time?
Yes, but only for 24 hours post-treatment (or up to 5 days for more aggressive treatments), unlike lasers or other treatments where recovery or downtime lasts up to 10 days. Your skin will be red and for the first 24 hours, you will not be allowed to apply or rub anything on your skin, including water or sweat (so no hot yoga or any other exercise that will make you perspire). After 24 hours, you may put on makeup and resume your regular skin care routine. You should apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30), preferably one without chemicals. But avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for the first 2 days after your session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

How long will the results last and are they permanent?
After your final treatment, your results will continue to improve. However, one touch-up session may be needed approximately every 6 months, depending on how your skin responds.

Do I need to do anything after my treatment?
If your skin feels hot, you can use a fan to cool it down. Avoid touching or scratching the treatment area. Do not put lotion, makeup, or anything else on your skin, including water, for 24 hours.
