| At the office of Dr. Eliot Ghatan, M.D., FAAD, FRCPC (1226 Ocean
Parkway, 718-253-2053), who specializes in dermatology, patients emerge
looking younger and healthier while - and now, at the same time, are
treated with four star service at the new medical spa.
Dr. Ghatan explains that his medical spa is the first one of its
type in Brooklyn.
Based off of the concept that has already taken root throughout
Manhattan, the spa provides patients with facials, electrolysis,
massage and aromatherapy.
"It makes sense," Dr. Ghatan explained.
"We are a lot like a spa since we, too, are in the business
of making our patients look more beautiful. But, more and more people
are finding that medical spas are much better than the typical spa,
because there is much more supervision and we pay more attention
to hygiene."
The medical spa is a natural adjunct to Dr. Ghatan's medical practice,
where state of the art dermatological procedures have made this
a very busy place.
His new laser, Dr. Ghatan notes, can discreetly remove fine lines,
brown spots, broken blood vessels, as well as tightens the skin
and gives a patient a younger appearance in a minimal amount of
time with minimal discomfort.
"It is much more effective," he explains, adding that
the laser is also used for two different types of hair removal.
In the past, doctors had a tough time successfully removing white
and blonde hairs.
With the new laser, hairs of any color can be removed with ease
and can be used on any skin tone without leaving a blemish.
Along with laser removal of hair, wrinkles, and spider veins, Dr.
Ghatan also performs a litany of popular cosmetic procedures, including
liposuction, lipo-enhancement, Botox injections, scar correction,
tattoo removal and repair of torn earlobes. Most all procedures
are accomplished in the convenience and comfort of his private office.
Also, for many procedures, "Patients can go back to work the
next day," he said. "There is no down time, really in
many instances."
In addition to cosmetic work, Dr Ghatan sees and treats a wide
number of dermatological conditions - from diagnosis and removal
of moles and warts, to the treatment of psoriasis and eczema to
skin discoloration, acne, rashes and insect bites. Of course, an
integral part of his practice is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment
of skin cancers.
Dr. Ghatan is a graduate of Albert Einstein Medical School and
completed a dermatology residency at McGill University. He is a
board-certified dermatologist with more than ten years of experience
in dermatology and cosmetic surgery.
He is also the author of two books, "The Invaluable Pearl"
and "Dermatological Differential Diagnosis of Pearls"
which is a widely used resource among dermatology students.
